About Winton Truck & Machinery Museum

Starting from a public meeting convened by a number of trucking enthusiasts and interested community members, Winton’s Diamantina Heritage Truck & Machinery Museum was formed in July 2004.

From that time, our volunteer members busily collected vehicles from around our district, photos and memorabilia to put into the display. With continual fundraising efforts and applying for funding for the next 3 years, Winton’s Diamantina Heritage Truck & Machinery Museum was officially opened in September 2007.

The museum adds another diverse layer to the attractions of Winton’s thriving tourism industry. Each visitor receives a history lesson on how Australia’s transport pioneers carved a road transport network. We recognise the contribution of the men and women who drove and lived with these great machines of the past.
